PS3 Scalpers

When the PS3 launched last November, Ebay was flooded with sellers trying to make a quick profit. One of the requirements by Ebay was that sellers include a photo of the PS3 "in their possession" with their listings. Members of the site Cheap Ass Gamer started a thread called the "PS3 Ebay Scalpers Wall of Shame" which nicely assembles a collage of those "holiday opportunists". Some of the photos are hilarious. Sellers use tactics that include showing fast cars, children, or even showing some skin to sell the product!

As it turns out, the eBay market was flooded with PS3's. People tried to make a quick buck, but soon realized that the fruits of their efforts weren't looking so good as grey market prices began plummeting soon after the launch. Kotaku’s blog entry, "The Decline of the PS3 Grey Market" focuses on this story.
