We heart The White Stripes
On Sunday we headed up north to watch The White Stripes at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, B.C. (outskirts of Vancouver). On the way we stopped in Bellingham and had lunch at the newly re-opened Casa Que Pasa (the Rancho’s taste nearly as good as I remember) with Nik, Justin, and Jory.
The border to get across to Canada was long because of all sorts of construction going on. The day started out to be sunny, but ended up pouring rain by mid afternoon (we bought some ponchos at Fred Meyer) in case we got rained on at the White Stripes.
It poured rain up until about a half and hour before the White Stripes, so the ground was completely soaked, and soggy… and rain clouds were still looming overhead… not completely the sunny day concert we had envisioned
The White Stripes were great. I only wished they had played a few more songs of their new album. I think the White Stripes are more appropriate to see in a theater than a festival show. We are going to see them play again at the Paramount in September, which should be amazing.
On a side note, I have never bought an album on so many formats as I have Icky Thump, I have it on vinyl, CD, and USB (2 collectable versions) and have 4 different 7” versions of the single Icky Thump itself. I guess I go a little crazy with The White Stripes merch. Luckily I have a wife who has a shoe and purse habit, so she understands my addiction.
